The 20th session of the Human Rights Council begins

The Human Rights Council is an inter-governmental body within the United Nations system made up of 47 States responsible for the promotion and protection of all human rights around the globe.

Security Council - Syria draft resolution vetoed
The draft resolution on Syria, S/2011/612, tabled during the Security Council meeting late yesterday afternoon was not adopted due to negative votes by two permanent members, China and the Russia Federation. Read the press release about the meeting.
