The Security Council met at its 6738th meeting to discuss the situation in Afghanistan. The Report of the Secretary-General on the situation in Afghanistan and its implications for international peace and security (S/2012/133) will be discussed.

The Security Council adopted resolution 2041(2012).

The present report, A/66/369 is submitted pursuant to General Assembly resolution 65/8 and Security Council resolution 1974 (2011), in which the Council requested the Secretary-General to report on developments in Afghanistan every three months. The report provides an update on the activities of the United Nations in Afghanistan, including significant humanitarian, development and human rights efforts, since the previous report (A/65/873-S/2011/381), dated 23 June 2011. The report also provides a summary of key political and security developments and information on regional and international events related to Afghanistan.
